わからないブタ（In a pig’s eye)

こちらでプレゼンテーションをサポートしていたアニメーション作家の和田淳くんがThe Melbourne International Film Festival 2010にノミネートされました。日本では広島国際アニメーションフェスティバル（2010年8月7日～11日）にノミネートされていますので、日本でも上映はご覧いただけます！！ので、ここでもご案内させてください。

Japanese artist,Atushi Wada‘s latest work, “In a pig’s eye” has been nominated in several international film festivals. The Melbourne International Film Festival 2010 has become his first chance to show the work in the southern hemisphere. As one of his big fans, friends, and also PR staff, I hope it will be a thrilling occasion for himself and the audience. The festival is from 22 July to 8 August 2010. His work, “In a pig’s eye” is screening as a part of a program called “Animation Shorts”, held on Saturday, July 31st at 7.00 PM at Greater Union Cinema, Melbourne

*”In a pig’s eye”(2010) -description by Atushi Wada

Everyone knows ‘the big pig’, itself, yet. I wonder how deeply we understand the big pig. Even if we would like to do something for the pig in good faith, nobody knows the pig’s feeling exactly. Actually even among us, a human society, I wonder how deeply we know each other, for example, in my film, the father(husband) has difficulty in discriminating the mother(wife) from others. I focused on these gaps between us in this film. I tried to depict naturally that we are living in distorted relationships in our usual day.

I use ‘Sarahanshi(a fine cloth-like traditional paper)’ and a sharp pencil with a lead of only 0.3mm. I just keep drawing in the details on the softly textured paper and then noncontinuous lines appear on the original. Additionally, as my unique actors repeat their surreal behaviour, my film is in uniform rhythm, not strongly, but much closer to the rhythm of our lives.

*Atsushi Wada Profile

Born in 1980. Begins to create short animation works in self-study from 2002.

Then, from 2008 to 2010 attended Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts.

Received several awards,　such as ’the best short film’ at Norwich International Animation Festival for ”Day of Nose／鼻の日”(2005)  and ’the best film of the young jury’ at Festival do Rio for ”Well, that’s glasses／そういう眼鏡”(2007).
